Between Gaudi’s sublime architecture, a multitude of bustling streets, the aroma of tomatoes and olives and tapas bars all over the place, a port filled with sailboats, and the fantastic shops of El Born, Barrio Gotico, and El Raval, Barcelona has got to be one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, hands down.

Although it wasn’t my first visit, I have to say that the joy of rediscovering and revisiting familiar places remains.

A recap of my trip:
–
-Spanish people are just as cool as ever
-I can no longer speak Spanish, although I can still understand it a little (Catalan, on the other hand, not so much!)
-Gazpacho is too good, and so is Wok to walk, even though the latter is not really very Spanish.
-Graffiti art is pretty much dead (which I think a complete shame!)
-There were almost as many French people in the city as there were Barcelonans (i.e. way too many!)
–Uterqüe, the new Inditex line (Zara, Bershka) is pretty great. It’s sort of like the equivalent of what COS is to H&M, with mostly accessories.
-Daytime is wonderful but dark alleys are best to be avoided at night (and I’m not kidding!)
-Barcelona is very dear me, because that’s where my sweetheart and I spent our first vacation together.
-I already want to go back.

And so, here is my version of a city in pictures. A city that is young, colourful, and full of joy, where swimming in the ocean and visiting a museum in the same day is completely possible, with or without a glass of sangria in hand!

Entre les sublimes batiments de Gaudi, les rues animées, le parfum de l’olive et de la tomate aux abords des petits bars à tapas, le port chargé de voiliers, et les quartiers comme El Born, Barrio Gotico et El raval bien fournis en jolies boutiques, Barcelone est définitivement l’une des plus belles villes d’europe.

Ce n’était pas la première fois que j’y allais, et pourtant, le plaisir de redécouvrir la ville ou revisiter les même endroits reste toujours intact.

Bilan de la visite:

– Les espagnols sont toujours aussi cool

– Je ne suis plus capable de parler espagnol, bien que je puisse encore comprendre un peu ( quoique le Catalan, aïe ! )

– Le gazpatcho c’est trop bon, et Wok to walk aussi, bien que ce ne soit pas très espagnol.

– Les graffitis, c’est fini ( et à mon sens c’est bien dommage ! )

– Il y avait presque autant de Français dans la ville que de Barcelonais ( donc il y en avait beaucoup trop ! )

– Uterqüe, la nouvelle marque d’Inditex ( Zara, Bershka )  c’est pas mal. C’est un équivalent de COS pour H&M, sauf qu’il y a surtout des accessoires.

– C’est super la journée, mais la nuit dans les ruelles sombres il vaut mieux éviter ( et je ne plaisante pas ! )

– Barcelone, c’est une ville très importante à mes yeux, puisque c’est là bas que j’ai fait mon premier voyage avec mon amoureux.

– J’ai déjà envie d’y retourner

Alors voici en image ma vision d’une ville jeune, joyeuse et colorée, où il est autant possible de faire cohabiter dans la même journée baignade en bord de mer que visite de musées, le tout avec un verre de sangria à la main … ou pas.
