Dire que je n’étais jamais allée au Mont St Michel…
J’ai alors décidé de m’y rendre le temps d’un week end, juste avant que la vague de grand froid arrive.
Comme je pense ne pas être la seule française à y mettre les pieds pour la première fois, et que des conseils peuvent être utiles si vous venez d’ailleurs et souhaitez visiter, voici un petit brief:

♥ J’ai dormi au Manoir de la Roche Torin. A 15 minutes en voiture, c’est le seul établissement « de charme » que j’ai trouvé proche du Mont St Michel ( la plupart des hôtels dans le coin sont très très moches ). Je suis arrivée de nuit, et l’allée d’arbres était du plus bel effet. Le bâtiment principal est vraiment beau, et fait rare qui mérite d’être souligné: il y a un grand jardin, avec vu sur le Mont St Michel. Ça met dans le bain dès le matin !
J’ai lu certains avis comme quoi le dîner et le déjeuner n’étaient pas aussi bien que le reste. Je conseillerais donc d’aller prendre ses repas à l’extérieur. Le petit déjeuner que j’y ai pris était très bon en tout cas !
♥ Se balader autour du Mont St Michel: Si vous souhaitez entreprendre la grande traversée, cela se fait avec un guide uniquement ( les sables mouvants peuvent être dangereux si vous vous laissez surprendre par la marée ). Mais rien ne vous empêche de vous promener autour !
Renseignez vous bien sur l’horaire des marées, et munissez vous de bonnes chaussures ( sauf en été où marcher pieds nus est un véritable régal ! ). Ne vous aventurez pas trop loin, et restez prudent.
♥ Pour manger: Crêperie » A La Sirène », située juste au-dessus d’une boutique de souvenir. C’est le plus rapide, bon et efficace que j’ai trouvé.
♥ Le Mont St Michel a été construit sur un rocher tellement dur qu’il était impossible d’y creuser quoique ce soit ( on oublie donc les légendes de souterrains ! ).
♥ Il faut à tout prix visiter l’abbaye (c’est pas mal de prendre une visite guidée, on apprend beaucoup de choses sur les étapes de la construction ). Et passage incontournable à La Merveilles, qui porte bien son nom.
♥ Qui dit Mont St Michel dit omelette de la Mère Poulard. Ayant lu des avis plutôt négatifs sur Tripadvisor, j’ai quand même voulu l’essayer.
Verdict: Je n’ai trouvé ça ni bon ni mauvais. Le charme de cette omelette vient sans doute plutôt de sa manière unique d’être faite. C’est sûr que je n’avais jamais mangé quelque chose de similaire auparavant !
Comme l’omelette en elle même est assez chère ( 29 € ), j’ai choisi de l’inclure dans un menu pour 10€ de plus. Bien plus intéressant au final en terme de quantité / prix. Le pain, les entrées et les desserts étaient bons.
♥ Il y a des touristes japonais partout, et ça j’adore. Ce sont toujours les visiteurs les plus calmes et les plus respectueux. Les allées et petites maisons font d’ailleurs beaucoup penser aux décors européen repris dans les films de Miyazaki. Pas si surprenant que ça après tout !
♥ Un des plus jolis souvenirs de ce week end a été de tomber sur une chorale dans la navette du soir qui relie le Mont St Michel au parking. Ils revenaient probablement d’une messe du soir à la cathédrale, et tout le bus à pu profiter de leurs chants mélodieux !

I can’t believe I never went to the Mont St Michel before !
So one week end, I decided to pack my things and go.
As I believe not being the only french going there for the first time, and that some advices can be useful if you come from another country, here are a few tips:

♥ I booked a room at Manoir de la Roche Torin. 15 minutes away by car, this is the only charming looking place that I found in the neighborhood ( most of the other hotels in the area are pretty much ugly ). The main building is very beautiful, and something very rare that is worth speaking about: there’s a big garden, with a view on the Mont St Michel ! perfect to get into the mood at the very beginning of the day. As I heard it’s not the best place to have lunch or dinner, I recommend eating outside. The breakfast that I had there was really good though !
♥ Strolling around the Mont St Michel: if you want to cross the bay, this can be done only with a guide ( the shifted sands can be really dangerous if you let yourself be surprised by the tide ). But you can definitely walk around !
Check carefully when the tide gets low and high, and take some good shoes with you ( except in the summer when walking barefoot is a real treat ! ). Don’t go too far, and stay accompanied.
♥ To eat: Crêperies » A la Sirène », located just above a souvenirs shop. This is the best that I found, and it’s not too expensive.
♥ Mont St Michel was built on a rock that is so hard, that it was impossible to dig anything in it ( forget everything about the subterranean legends ! )
♥ You must visit the abbaye ( it’s even better with a guide, who will teach you a lot about the construction of the town ). And go to the Wonder ( La Merveilles ) which totally deserves its name.
♥ Who says Mont St Michel says Mère Poulard’s omelette. Even though I read some negative reviews on tripadvisor, I still wanted to try it.
Verdict: I thought it was neither good nor bad. The charm of this omelette is probably more in the way that it’s made than the way that it tastes. I surely never had anything like this before !
As the omelette is pretty expensive alone ( 29 € ), I decided to get it in a menu, for 10€ more. It was a good idea considering you get much more food. The bread, entrée and desserts were good.
♥ There are Japanese tourists everywhere, and I love it. It is always the most quiet and the most respectful visitors. The little alleys and houses reminded me of europeans sceneries in Miyazaki movies. Not so surprising after all !
♥ One of the most beautiful memories of this week end was to be in the same shuttle as a choir. This group was probably leaving after the evening mass at the cathedral, and all the people in the bus enjoyed their melodious songs !

Et voici mon tout dernier article sur l’Argentine.
Je tiens à remercier tout particulièrement Kenzo Parfum de m’avoir invité à la présentation de leur nouveau parfum Flower in the Air à Buenos Aires, et offert la chance de découvrir ce magnifique pays. Un grand merci à Marie de s’être si bien occupée de moi !
J’espère que les photos vous aurons plues, et donné des idées d’évasion.
L’Argentine est tellement grande qu’il est impossible de la visiter en moins de deux semaines, j’aimerais donc énormément revenir et me balader dans le sud où l’on peut admirer de magnifique cascades, et les paysages enneigé d’Ushuaïa !
Me retrouver seule dans une Estancia pour profiter de la nature et faire un peu de cheval a été l’occasion parfaite pour parler avec des Argentins et apprendre un peu plus sur leur pays.
J’ai ainsi appris que ses habitants sont habitués à faire énormément de trajets en voiture, tant les distances sont importantes.
La prononciation Argentine est un peu différente des autres pays hispaniques ( notons que j’ai appris l’espagnol il y a quelques années puis ai tout oublié à force de ne pas le pratiquer assez souvent ). C’est quand je me suis retrouvé dans cette Estancia, avec nul autre choix que de parler espagnol que j’ai remarqué cette amusante différence: les Argentins de dirons pas « como te llamas » mais « como de jamas » ( comment tu t’appelles ).
J’ai ainsi mis un certain temps à comprendre ce qu’était un « cabajo » ( caballo = cheval ).
Fort embêtant, étant donné que je me trouvais dans un ranch et qu’on me demandais souvent si je voulais faire un « tour de cabajo »…
« Heu, pardon un tour de quoi ? »
Pour ma dernière journée à San Antonio de Areco, je me suis levée vers 6h du matin juste avant le lever du soleil pour profiter de la magnifique lumière.
Comme c’était la fin de l’hiver, il faisait encore assez froid, mais les arbres sans feuilles et l’herbe chargée de gel offraient un spectacle magnifique.
J’ai été extrêmement chanceuse, car il a fait extrêmement beau tout au long de mon séjour. Des conditions parfaites pour des ballades à cheval ( cabajo ahah ! ).
El ombu de Areco proposait deux excursions par jour dans la campagne environnante.
J’en suis revenu au bout de deux jours avec des courbatures terribles, mais heureuse comme tout d’avoir enfin appris à courir au galop !
Comme j’ai déjà beaucoup parlé, je vous laisse découvrir les photos avec ces superbes chevaux, et les écuyers très chics habillés en vêtements traditionnel de « Gaucho » !

So this is it, my articles about Argentina are coming to an end !

Argentina is so big that it is impossible to visit everything in only two weeks, this is why I would love coming back and go to the south. I heard there are some amazing waterfalls here, and the landscapes of Ushuaïa are quite amazing !
Being alone in an Estancia to enjoy the nature around was the perfect opportunity for talking with Argentines and learn a bit more about their country.
This is how I discovered that people are used to drive a lot for going from one place to another, as the distances are so huge.
Argentinian pronunciation slightly differs from other hispanics countries ( note that I learned Spanish a while ago, then didn’t practiced enough so forgot almost everything ).
That’s when I found myself in this Estancia, with no other choice but speaking ( my awful ) Spanish that I noticed this difference:
Argentines wouldn’t say » Como te llamas » but » Como te jamas » ( what’s your name ? ).
It took me some time to get what « Cabajo » meant ( Cabajo = Caballo = Horse ).
Quite an issue, especially when you are in a ranch and they ask you all the time in Spanish if you want to « have a tour with the cabajos ».
… « Uh sorry, a tour with what ? »
On my last day in San Antonio de Areco, I woke up at 6 AM just before sunrise, so I could enjoy the beautiful light.
It was the end of winter, and still pretty cold, but how beautiful to see these very graphic trees and the frozen grass in the morning light !
I’ve been extremely lucky because it was very sunny during my stay. Perfect condition for horse riding ( Cabajo haha ! ).
El Ombu de Areco proposed two tours per day in the surrounding countryside.
I came back after two days with terrible pain, but so happy to be able to gallop !
As I’ve already talked a lot, I’ll leave you with the photos so you can enjoy the beautiful horses, and the cavaliers dressed in beautiful traditional « Gaucho’ clothing !
