Je ne connaissais pas les Moomins, et c’est à Tokyo que j’ai fait cette découverte.
Pourtant, ces personnages viennent de Finlande !
Les dessins animés créés par les Japonais passent à la télévision, et on peut trouver pas mal d’objets dérivés ( souvent sous la forme de jolie vaisselle, plateaux, accessoires de cuisine … ).
Un jour, j’ai appris l’existence d’un café leur étant spécialement dédié.
Cet établissement propose une boulangerie d’un côté, et un restaurant de l’autre, entièrement décoré comme dans la Moominvalley.
Comme je suis très curieuse, j’ai voulu tester histoire d’en apprendre un peu plus et de voir comment les Japonais s’appropriaient l’oeuvre de Tove Jansson.
Verdict: même si comme moi vous n’êtes pas familier à ces curieux petits personnages, la sortie vaut le coup!
Déjà parce que le café se trouve dans le Tokyo City Dome Laqua ( avec un roller coaster qui passe à travers le bâtiment principal ), et aussi parce que comme partout au Japon, la cuisine y est vraiment bonne ! ( mention spéciale pour le pain ).
On vous sert votre commande décorée façon Moomin, avec les couverts qui vont avec.
Une autre particularité du lieu: les serveurs déplacent les peluches des personnages pour les asseoir juste à côté de vous ( même si vous êtes une petite mamie de 70 ans ).
Un retour en enfance immédiat ! Régressif certainement, mais c’est ce qu’il y a de plus amusant !

I never heard about the Moomins before going to Japan.
Even though these characters are from Finland !
Cartoons created by the Japanese run non stop on TV, and you can find loads of goodies ( dishes, trays, kitchen accessories … )
One day, I heard about a place entirely dedicated to the Moomins in Tokyo, offering both a bakery and a restaurant. Decorated like in the Moominvalley.
As I’m very curious, I wanted to learn a little bit more about them, and see how the Japanese brought Tove Jansson’s work to life.
Verdict: Even though you might not be familiar with these strange little characters, this place is a really nice place to go !
The main reason is because it’s located at Tokyo Dome City Laqua, with an impressive Roller Coaster passing through the main building, but also because like most of the places in Japan, the food is really good ! ( The bread is to die for )
Your dish will be served with Moomin decoration, including the cute spoon, fork and knife.
The most curious thing about that place ? The waiters will bring a stuffed Moomin and sit it right next to you ( no matter your age, you will have Moomintroll sitting on the chair next to you even if you’re a 70 years old lady ).
You will go straight back to childhood !Â
Definitely regressive, but that’s part of the fun ;)

So adorable. :) I think it’s really fun that Japanese have this kind og love for the Moomins – I’m from Finland and I LOVE them! ^^ What’s not to love, they’re so cute and all the stories have deeper meanings (especially the original fairy tale books). I used to watch Moomin cartoons growing up, they were made in Japan.. Didn’t know that until all grown up. Anyways, this was a really sweet post from you xx

Ahaha, I’m Finnish and it’s so interesting how Moomins are so big thing in Japan. I mean we don’t have moomin cafés here in Finland, but in Japan they do. And always when I’m walking at the city center of Helsinki, I see Japanese tourists buying Moomin related stuff.
I’d love to have that kind of café here in Finland too! Looks so super cute and brings a lot childhood memories to me.♥ :,)

Le Japon un rêve que j’espère bientôt réalisé!! Je voulais juste précisé que les personnages sont effectivement à la base Finlandais mais le dessin animé a été fait par des Japonais! Rien qu’à voir l’animation il n’y a pas de doute! Et sur le générique il n’y a qu’un nom Finlandais tout le reste de l’équipe étant Japonaise! Go Japan!!

Oh my! Moomins! I am from Finland and in here they are really big things – especially the moomin mugs are something people might pay ridiculous prices if they are rare editions.
That cafeteria looks really adorable – my little sister would definitely love it. <3

Il y a la même chose à Fukuoka et j’aime beaucoup l’ambiance feutrée de la boutique ainsi que les plats qui sont apparement différents de boutiques en boutiques.
