Bientôt Noël, il est temps de sortir les décorations !

C’est un de mes moments favoris de l’année. Déballer le grand carton, et disperser boules et guirlandes qu’il contient dans tout l’appartement.

Une guirlande qui n’est pas prête de revoir ce fameux carton, c’est bien celle accroché sur mon lit, tellement je compte garder cette ambiance féerique toute l’année.

Un thé sucré, des chaussettes hautes pour rester bien au chaud, je suis prête pour la traditionnelle séance spécial films de Noël nichée bien confortablement au fond de mon lit !

Christmas is just around the corner. Time to decorate!

It’s one of my favourite moments of the year: opening that big box of Christmas decorations, and stringing the lights and ornaments all around the apartment.

One such string of lights that will surely not be going back into the box anytime soon is the one that I’ve strung around the headboard of my bed; for why not keep the enchanted glimmer glowing all year?

With a cup of sweet tea and a pair of knee socks to keep warm, I’m ready for my annual evening spent watching Christmas specials, snuggled up in bed!

Quoi de neuf en ce mercredi 2 décembre ?

– En enfilant ma chemise en jean à poches et en brossant ma frange ce matin, j’ai eu l’impression d’avoir basculé dans les années 70. J’étais même limite prête à empoigner une guitare et chanter sur du Simon & Garfunkel.

– J’ai envie de faire une razzia chez Vivienne Westwood. Pirate boots, serre tête à cornes, mini couronne et bague armure !

– Je dois m’attendre à voir débarquer une portée de chatons dans pas moins de deux semaines.

– A l’heure où j’écris, mon nouveau manteau Topshop est en train de traverser la manche.

– Et ce manteau, il retraversera la manche, mais cette fois sur mon dos lorsque j’irais visiter Cambridge à Noël.

Allez, on s’écoute quand même un petit Simon & Garfunkel ?

So what’s new for Wednesday, December 2?

– While I was fastening my denim pocket shirt and brushing my bangs this morning, I felt like I had been launched back into the seventies.

– I feel like raiding Vivienne Westwood. Pirate boots, devil-eared headbands, miniature crowns, finger armour rings!

– We’re expecting a litter of kittens in just two weeks.

– At the moment of writing, my new Topshop coat is crossing the Channel.

– This coat will cross the Channel again, when I visit Cambridge over the Holidays.

Come on, let’s listen to a little Simon and Garfunkel now, shall we?

La malédiction du dimanche, vous connaissez ?

Quand la pluie s’abat lourdement du matin jusqu’au soir, le seul jour de la semaine passé comme toujours ou presque à la campagne.

Et depuis un mois, il pleut tous les dimanche.

Malédiction je vous dis !

Allez, on ne vas pas bouder pour autant. On dégaine le parapluie, et comme dimanche dernier, on chante sous la pluie !

Do you know about Sunday’s curse?

It’s when the rain doesn’t let up, even for a moment, on the only day you get to spend in the country.
And for the past month, every Sunday has been rainy!

Cursed, I tell you!

But enough complaining. Looks like I’m going to have to get out my umbrella and start singing in the rain, just like I did last Sunday!
